The Logo Explained

Our Director has a long history in community services and a passion for bringing people together. By connecting local businesses, supporting shared projects, and creating events, the aim is simple: to bring Tunstall back together.

Tunstall is famous for its pottery heritage – from bottle kilns to tile making – and that proud history inspires everything we do.

Tunstall Together C.I.C is here to secure funding, support local businesses, spark community projects, and help create places we can all be proud of again.

What is a C.I.C? And What Tunstall Together C.I.C Do?

A Community Interest Company (CIC) is a special type of limited company designed to operate for the benefit of the community rather than for private profit. CICs are used by social enterprises that want to use their profits and assets to deliver positive social, environmental, or community impact. They are regulated to ensure that their activities serve a defined community purpose, with safeguards such as an asset lock that prevents assets from being used for private gain.

Tunstall Together C.I.C's office is located at Town Hall Chambers and from that office space we will work with support organizations, to hold appointment only sessions with the community needing a private, secure place to seek help from professionals. Apply for funding to bring to Tunstall, such as event grants, heritage funding to restore a heritage building, create projects that the community can be involved in.

CICs are not charities.  The legal definition of charity is narrower than that for a CIC company.  All charities are non profits, but not all non profits are charities.

CICs have more of a 'business' image than charities, financial reporting is less of a burden, but don't qualify for charity tax reliefs and, whilst you can fundraise, it's more difficult.

A CIC is taken more seriously with councils, police and organisations.

In Short of what we will do.

  • Gain greater access to external funding
  • Increase the number of events indoors and outdoors
  • And improve partnerships and networking opportunities across the city for the benefit of Tunstall. Police, Charities, Council and businesses, developers and investors, that who could be attracted to more in Tunstall.
